Networks and Partnerships

AWDF USA is happy to maintain formal and informal partnerships with organizations whose mission, vision, goals, and purpose align with our own. Some of these partnerships include:

  • The Africa-American Institute (AAI) is the premiere US international organization dedicated to increasing educational opportunity for young Africans and improving global understanding of Africa.
  • The Moremi Initiative is a nonprofit organization based in Ghana, Nigeria, and the United States that strives to engage, inspire and equip young women and girls to become the next generation of leading politicians, activists, social entrepreneurs and change agents.
  • Girls Empowerment Sierra Leone (GESL) nurtures and enhances the leadership skills of  young girls to become effective advocates and social change agents in their communities.
  • The New York Women’s Foundation (NYWF) creates an equitable and just future for women and families by uniting a cross-cultural alliance that ignites action and invests in bold, community-led solutions across New York City.

Via our parent organization the AWDF, AWDF USA is proud to belong to a diverse group of networks and coalitions that work to support social justice, equality and respect for women’s human rights for African women. These include:

  • The African Feminist Forum: A biennial conference that brings together feminist activists from across the continent to deliberate on key issues in the African women’s movement.
  • Women’s Funding Network: With more than 160 women’s funds and foundations, the Women’s Funding Network is the largest philanthropic network in the world devoted to women and girls.
  • African Grantmakers Network: A continent-wide network of African grantmaking organizations.
